Sorry to be taking such an embedded video route, but this video is genuinely fascinating. It's about
a 6-second drum break from a 1969 b-side that spawned more than one musical genre and countless classic samplings. If you
have about 18 minutes, sit back and take in this incredibly well-done video essay. It's got a message that I can get behind,
too! Party.
I'm not sure if anyone's ever witnessed a death by awesome before, or if there's ever been
one in history, but it may very well occur on February 21st. Georgetown Cabaret is happening at the State Theater in Falls
Church on that night, and they can't claim responsibility for all of the faces that will be melted. What it is, for those
who haven't seen it before, is a bunch of incredibly talented Georgetown kids getting together and performing a bunch
of hits from the past 30-40 years. I stopped by and shot footage of their rehearsal today and can honestly say that they're
arrangements and enthusiasm are unbelievable, and the show will be unmissable this year as well. Here are the essentials...
